Are you an experienced English language teacher? Do you already have an initial teaching qualification (for example CELTA or an equivalent qualification) and at least two years' full-time teaching experience?
If you'd like to extend your teaching knowledge and skills, apply for our Delta (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) courses.
There are three Delta modules available that can be taken independently and over an extended period of time. It is not necessary to complete all of the modules sequentially or within the same year. However, as Delta Module 1 provides a solid basis for the other two modules, we require all our candidates to complete a Module 1 course before embarking on Module 2 and/or Module 3.
Separate certificates are issued by Cambridge English Language Assessment on successful completion of each module. In addition to these, an overall certificate is awarded to candidates who have successfully completed all three modules.
Delta Modules:
Delta Module 1: Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching Our Module 1 course runs over eight days and consists of workshops, seminars, reading and research. Our autumn course (October-November) takes place over eight Sundays. Assessment is by written examination on the first Wednesday in December.
Delta Module 2: Developing Professional Practice
Our Module 2 course takes place over approximately twelve Sundays from January to May. The course consists of workshops, seminars and observed teaching practice. Assessment is by written essay/assignment and assessed teaching practice.
Delta Module 3: Extending Practice and ELT Specialism
Module 3 is supervised by a tutor on a one-to-one basis and is conducted primarily via e-mail. Supervision is available from October to November (for the December entry) and from February to May (for the June entry). Assessment is by extended written assignment submitted electronically in the first week of December or the first week of June.
