Rachel Launay

Director, British Council Poland

I am the Director of the British Council in Poland and lead its work to strengthen cultural and educational links between the UK and Poland and promote the English language. Since 2014 I have been Country Director in Italy and in Germany and before that, I was responsible for a range of cultural engagement and English language programmes across the UK and East Asia. I have lived in Warsaw since October 2023.

Ewelina Piorun

Head of Exams Business Development Poland

I am Exams Manager, responsible for Examinations Services, consisting of 10 centres across Poland and 4 in Lithuania and the Baltic countries. I am focused on supervising exams-related activities, building the strategy and setting new directions for development. I am especially interested in improvements in the area of customer service and innovations in business development. I have worked for British Council since 2002. I love running, hiking, reading and spending time with my family and dogs.

Ewa Ayton

Head of Arts and Culture

I have over two decades of experience in project management. I am responsible for managing a very diverse Arts and Culture programme across Poland, which strongly focuses on the creative industries agenda. I managed a three year pan-European Creative Cities project with 15 participating countries. I have extensive experience in developing effective communication and working methods to support networks and virtual working. 

Alicja Grymek

Head of Education and Society

Alicja started her career at the British Council in the mid 90s leading the British Government’s Know How Fund MATRIK project for management development in Kraków and the Region. Alicja was Director of the British Council Krakow for 18 years and played a key role in wider cultural relations, e.g. being Head of the EUNIC Kraków Cluster for two years. She has led numerous EU-funded projects in the areas of education including youth, social cohesion and gender equality.
