The WRO Biennale 2025, themed Qualia, invites audiences to explore the individuality of perception through contemporary media art. Taking place across more than a dozen locations in Wrocław, Poland, the Biennale opens with events from 14–18 May, and exhibitions continue until 15 June 2025.

This 21st edition features 21 premiere artworks by Polish and international artists, among them Noriko Okaku and Helen Papaioanno from UK. These works cross genre boundaries and offer interactive, sensory experiences that highlight the uniqueness of personal perception—what philosophers call qualia: the felt qualities of individual experience.

Exhibitions, performances, sound and visual presentations, workshops, and meetings create an inclusive space for exploring how art interacts with consciousness. The Biennale encourages viewers to engage directly with the impulses and sensations sparked by the artworks, before interpretation or reflection. Each encounter invites a personal, subjective response, emphasizing the freedom and diversity of individual experience.

During the WRO Biennale look out for the art piece by Katarzyna Krakowiak – her work is announcing “What is it like?” Exhibition coming to Wrocław in September - a result of a collaboration between arebyte and WRO Art Centre realised under the UK/Poland Season 2025.
