British Council in Poland has prepared a quiz “UK is OK” to test how well the Poles know the UK’s history, culture, food, sport, music and language. You can also enter the quiz and check your knowledge!
The quiz is part of celebrations of the British Council’s 75th anniversary in Poland where it promotes British culture, engages in social projects, provides examinations services and teaches English. Warsaw was one of the first five cities in the world where, in 1938, the British Council created its office outside of the UK.
At first, the British Council’s activities in Poland were focused on education: funding scholarships for Polish teachers of the English language and donating English books to Polish schools and Anglophile societies. After the war, the scope of activities was broadened to include the popularisation of the British culture. And since Poland became a member of the European Union in 2004, the British Council in Poland has also been more and more engaged in cultural and social programmes within a broader European perspective.
British Council’s main objective, which is promoting English language, creates opportunities for millions of people around the world. Improved English skills can open doors to education, employment, mobility and international engagement. It can also help build connections between different cultures and countries.
“UK is OK” quiz can be accessed from ciekawe.onet.pl/ukjestok and consists of 15 questions. It starts on 16 September and ends on 15 October.
