British Embassy in Warsaw and the British Council, in partnership with Big Book Cafe MDM (‘Kultura nie boli Foundation’) are piloting a new series of events under the title of ‘Youth Connects’ to provide opportunities for the younger generation to discuss global issues.
The aim of Youth Connects is to bring together British and Polish influencers, young people, artists and creative activists to network. Each event will focus on a specific topic of mutual concern and take an innovative approach to developing perspectives related to the issues. We want to give voice to young people and create opportunities for them to take part in a change process for the better future.
We would like to invite you to the first Youth Connects event which will take place on the 22 February at the Big Book Café MDM (ul. Koszykowa 34/50 in Warsaw) at 19.00 and will be devoted to the topic ‘The end of art? AI vs. Creativity.
The speakers for the event ‘The end of art? AI vs. Creativity will include Reema Selhi - Head of Policy and International, Design and Artists Copyright Society from the UK and Arkadiusz Rataj, a Polish digital artist creating with AI, focused on the synthesis of art and science, who also specializes in designing and implementing creative solutions using AI. His knowledge and practice will provide insight into the process of how AI works in creating art, outline the risks and benefits for an artist creating with AI, and show the artist's perspective in the discussion of artificial intelligence and copyright.
The speakers will delve into how AI learns and takes from humans, how creative can it be, and whether it will someday create unique art that transcends human achievement. And if it does, will artists stay relevant, admired and valued. Reema Selhi’s expertise on copryright protection will provide insight into challenges and possible conflicts ahead for creaors and the machines. As new cases of copyright infringement are disclosed, new questions arise. Will AI tools be free and accessible for everyone to enhence their talents or will they work for the profit of an elite who can program and afford it. Together with the audience – both on premises and on line - the speakers will discuss how AI redefines the very notion of art and talent.
A moderated discussion, hosted by Sylwia Czubkowska will be followed by Q/A session and a glass of wine and nibbles over a DJ Buslav set to enable participants to network more informally after the first part of the event.
The event will be livestreamed on Facebook of British Council Poland and Big Book Cafe.
