"Panufnik’s Return. 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth" is a tribute to the outstanding Polish composer and conductor whose life was bisected by the decision to emigrate to Great Britain and whose oeuvre has become a permanent fixture in the history of world culture. It is also an opportunity to meet excellent artists for whom his music has become the common denominator. First and foremost, however, it is a Gdynia celebration of contemporary music.
The music events prepared are aimed both at music lovers and fans of contemporary music as well as at those individuals for whom this will be the first contact with the 20th-century composer’s works.
The programme includes Panufnik’s string quartets performed by a young ensemble NeoQuartet, symphonic concert of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, under the baton of maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk and accompanied by the outstanding violinist Patrycja Piekutowska, a series of lectures and meetings, screening of biographical and music workshops for the youngest music lovers.
Under a patronage of the British Council.
