The Rector of the University of Łódź and the International Shakespeare Studies Centre invite everyone to an open lecture by Professor William B. Worthen, Barnard College, Columbia University, New York.
W. B. Worthen is the Professor of Alice Brady Pels at the Uniwersity of Columbia in New York, where he is the Head of Department of Theatre and Performing Arts (Barnard College). He also cooperates with the Department of English Literature. Professor Worthen is an author of many publications devoted to drama, theatre and performance. He is the author of the publication - Shalespeare Performance Studies, published by Cambridge University Press in 2014, which analyses relations between the meaning of the written text and its stage realisation.
The lecture entitled Mediatizing Hamlet considers how the multiplicity of Shakespeare's media – manuscript, print, acting, film, digital media – problematize, or should problematize, our understanding of dramatic performance.
The lecture take place on March 10, in the Green Lecture Hall, Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź, Kopcińskiego 8/12. The lecture starts at 11 a.m. and is open to all interested.
