After 25 years of tilting at windmills, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, a legendary passion project by Terry Gilliam, Monty Python’s Flying Circus” co-creator, finally on the big screen!
Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor, Jack O’Connell, Robert Duvall, Michael Palin… all of them have worked on the dream project that the rebellious director (Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Fisher King, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) has spent the last 25 years of his life on. Several times works on the project came to a halt, but Gilliam turned to be not only a crazy visionary, but also a man of great obstinacy: by the end of 2017 the film was ready. This long-awaited, final version of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote went straight from the troubled movie set to the red carpets of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where the audience gave it a raving standing ovation, the longest ever in the history of its closing ceremonies.
Eventually the leading roles were given to Adam Driver (Paterson, Star Wars. The Force Awakens), Olga Kurylenko (007 Quantum of Solace), Jonathan Pryce (The Brothers Grimm, Game of Thrones) and Stellan Skarsgård (Nymphomaniac, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).
