Warsaw’s most hip international festival of reading and arts presents authors from the United Kingdom. Each year British writers, experts and performers participate in The British Scene. This year these will be: Sarah Moss (novelist), Norman Davies (historian), Jamie Bartlett (technology analyst), Gavin Francis (doctor and traveller), Tom Phillips (comic and editor) and Catherine Blackledge (female sexuality researcher).

British novelist SARAH MOSS speaks about being on the edge of fear and loss and finding hope in miraculous survivals.

Travelling doctor and author GAVIN FRANCIS takes you on an illustrated tour of the human body offering insights on everything from the ribbed surface of the brain to the secret workings of the heart and the womb.

LIFT YOUR SKIRTS!

British author CATHERINE BLACKLEDGE takes us on a historical tour of vagina’s influence on religion, culture and power. We learn about ancient rituals and why the feminine sexuality still is a taboo.

After the meeting we take a short tour of female-inspired artworks „Ana-Suromai“ and „28 Days“ by Iwona Demko.

Big Book Festival’s seventh edition is called OUT OF THE BOX! and celebrates the guilty pleasures of reading what we like, not what we should. The program consists of 50 events: spectacles, performances, stand-us, movie shows, discussions, talks, walks and happenings. 

The joy of reading is presented in all its forms.
