Welcome to British Council, Poland. We’re delighted that you have chosen to study with the world leader in English language learning. Following is some useful information about your new course. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.
Our teachers
Teachers are one of the most important factors in guaranteeing success for our students. That is why we are committed to providing you with the best qualified and the most experienced teaching professionals. We are very thorough in our recruitment process and fully support our teachers through our training and development programmes. This ensures that you are consistently taught by experts who make lessons engaging, enjoyable and effective. All of our teachers are expert users of English, and hold internationally recognised teaching qualifications.
Your progress and assessment
Your teacher will continually assess you throughout the course in speaking, listening, reading and writing. In each semester, one-to-one time will be allocated for you to discuss your progress with your teacher and to ensure that you are on track with your learning. At the end of the course your teacher will make a next-level recommendation based on your progress and performance.
Adult courses and assessments are mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and include:
- scenario based speaking exercises to build your confidence
- modern teaching techniques to equip you with 21st century skills for both social and professional use
- timely and constructive feedback to help you track your progress
- opportunities to develop intercultural awareness and understanding
- a wide range of extra resources.
For further information about CEFR, please visit: https://www.britishcouncil.pl/en/english/levels-adults
Upon completion of a full CEFR level, you can request a British Council certificate.
Help yourself learn
Three hours per week in class gives you lots of opportunity to practice, but you have to be motivated to study and use the language outside of the classroom too. You will be given homework by your teacher, offered the opportunity to attend free British Council clubs and workshops, plus they may direct you to a variety of online resources, all of which you are strongly encouraged to engage with. We also recommend that you visit our website (also available as a smartphone app): learnenglish.britishcouncil.org.
